Dipa Karmakar RioIndia's gymnastics heroine Dipa Karmakar has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement of setting up a task force to prepare an action plan for the next three Olympic Games, and expressed hope that it would yield positive results and the country would get many medals in the upcoming Summer Games, says a report in the Business Standard.

"I want to thank sir. I hope we get many medals in the coming Olympics. Results will surely be really good," Karmakar said.
Meanwhile, according o a report in the Indian Express, aimed at boosting India’s performance in future Olympic Games, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced that a Task Force would be set up to prepare a comprehensive action plan for “effective participation” of Indian sportspersons in the next three Olympic Games — 2020, 2024 and 2028.

“It is learnt that the PMO has asked the Sports Ministry to submit a detailed report on India’s disappointing performance at the Rio Games. The report, a Sports Ministry official said, has to be submitted by the end of September. The Task Force will be set up in the next few days and will prepare the overall strategy for sports facilities, training, selection procedure and other related matters. An official statement said that the Task Force will have members who are in-house experts as well as those from outside,” says the report.
