IPL: Yuvraj, Dinesh, KP released from their contracts by their franchisees

The IPL franchises have released several big names during the trading window, says a report in The Indian Express, adding that the biggest release was that of Yuvraj Singh, who was purchased for Rs 14 crores last season, by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The report adds that even after such big signings, Challengers didn't impress in the edition gone by. “Yuvraj's release will now allow them to buy at least two players with the same purse,” it says

Meanwhile Mumbai Mirror writes that the Indian Premier League (IPL) owners have not exactly shown patience with their marquee players. They have declared a dictum: perish if you have not performed.

“So out go some of the biggest names of world cricket, who have failed to deliver in the last edition of the IPL. The demanding owners have not waited to give their stars another chance. They have sacked them at the first possible opportunity. Among those who have been released from their contracts are Yuvraj Singh (Rs 14 crore), Dinesh Karthik (Rs 12.5 crore) and Kevin Pietersen (Rs 9 crore), the three most costliest players at last year's auction. This paper has been predicting that the heads of these fading stars are under the chopping block. We can now confirm that these players have been released from their contracts. The deadline for the retention of players expired on Monday evening,” says the report in Mumbai Mirror.
