Clarke disappointed after losing from a winning position in fourth Ashes Test

Losing a test series from a winning position could be disheartening for any captain and Aussie skipper Michael Clarke is no different. The final Test of the Ashes series will be starting from next Wednesday at The Oval and it would be interesting to see that how Aussies would lift themselves up

Clarke was quoted by Deccan Herald saying, “Statistics are not going to be of much help and after this lose at Durham, we are looking to come strong in the final Test at Oval to atleast finish it off on a good note.”

Australia is having a very fragile middle-order and because of that they haven’t been able to pull off a victory in the last eight matches. Though they are picking up the right men for right job but still the things are not falling in place for them.

According to the recent reports of The New Indian Express, Clarke was quoted saying, “We have to continue to show faith in young players as selectors cannot just drop a player if there is no one better to take their spot. It takes time for a player to grow when he is playing against a good opposition.”

He further said, “We are playing the best oppositions in the world like England now and South Africa next year and moreover, the selectors are doing the best they can to pick the best players given that they have to select 11 players to take the field.”

Clarke himself hasn’t been in an inspiring form this season but would be looking to come up with something special in the final Test at Oval which would make a great deal of difference as the opening pair in Chris Rogers and David Warner has also shown some grit in the fourth test as they put up a partnership of 109 runs in the second innings.

Clarke was quoted by Deccan Chronicle saying, “If I would have led by the example and scored a few more runs along with the other players, then it would helped the selectors' job as they have to keep the faith and try and get the best out of players while picking the squad.”
