Harbhajan Singh has been brilliant with the ball in this edition of Pepsi-IPL as has picked up wickets on the consistent basis and that too at crunch times. Harbhajan has given the credit for his recent success to none other than his mentor Anil Kumble who has been motivating him since he took the mentorship of Mumbai Indians.
Turbanator was quoted by Times of India saying, “Anil bhai keeps telling me to bowl in order to pick up wickets rather than containing the batsmen. He made it quite clear that if I have to bring back my magical bowling spells then I need to keep on attacking the batsmen. He kept telling all our spinners that it’s always your attacking instincts that’s going to help you and for that you need to make the batsmen play your balls. It’s better that as a spinner you keep quizzing the batsmen otherwise you will go for plenty.”
Off-spinner, who has bagged 22 wickets this season, was quoted by Hindustan Times saying, "Rohit has shouldered the captaincy really well. He is young and it’s a great learning curve for a youngster like him who might go on to represent Indian team if he does well with the bat in the same fashion.” Harbhajan also praised the trio of John Wright, Ricky Ponting and Anil Kumble for giving immense support and balance to the MI squad.
He was quoted by Indian Express saying, “All three of them believe in working behind the scenes rather than getting in to lime light. Wright’s presence has been as fruitful for MI as it was for India, almost a decade ago. Anil bhai and Ricky had been a great motivation for the youngsters and with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Jonty Rhodes what else do we need in a dressing room. They make the things looks quite simple which makes them as the greatest of the game.”
Bhajji was quoted by DNA saying, "Rohit and Karthik had made world of difference with the bat and add to that the likes of Dwayne Smith and Keiron Pollard who can smack the ball long-way which makes us a brilliant unit and hot favourites of clinching this IPL trophy.”
