Leading a top IPL franchise like RCB will be a stepping stone for Virat Kohli for bigger role: Ray Jennings

RCB Coach Ray Jennings foresees Virat Kohli as the Captain of Indian Cricket team and has said his aggression will help him reaching the new heights. Jennings took the charge of the preparations with few RCB players attending as RCB face Mumbai Indians in their opening match on April 4 at home.

According to the recent reports in Indian Express, Jennings was quoted saying, “It’s important to build the team in the right spirit and keep in check that players are listening to you and working on their shortcomings. Mickey Arthur did what he thought was right and that’s his way. Every coach has his own way of approaching their players and that approach decides how well the team’s performs. My mantra for success is very simple -- happier the environment in the dressing room, better will be the performance.”

As per the recent reports of Times of India, RCB Coach was quoted saying that leading a top IPL franchise likeRoyal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League will be a stepping stone for Virat Kohli to get ready for a bigger role with the Indian team.

"Kohli needs to make sure he gets his captaincy right. Dhoni is not going to be around for a long time. He needs to be ready for India and captaining RCB is a stepping stone for Kohli to take over from Dhoni," Jennings said after a training session on Tuesday.

“T20 brings lots of unpredictability with it. Match can swing away from just in matters of two-three overs. So, it’s important that a strong team performance comes in every match as this edition of IPL will be much more tough than the previous five editions.”

Jennings went on to say, “Our batting line-up is in great shape as our hitters in top form this season. VIrat Kohli, AB De Villiers, Chris Gayle and Tillakaratne Dilshan who can make bowlers run for their money and add to that recent form of all these players will add more solidity to the team. But we will surely miss the services of new-star of Indian test squad, Cheteshwar Pujara, who did exceedingly well in the recent Test series because of the injury on his index finger of right-hand. ”

Ray Jennings was quoted saying by The Hindu, “With inclusion of Zaheer Khan and Ravi Rampaul, our bowling attack looks more fiery than previous season. To add some flavour to team combination, we have Murli Kartik who has been impressive with his left-arm spin in previous season.”
