India’s World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev said that Sachin Tendulkar is the best person to decide about his retirement from international cricket, says a report in The Indian Express.
"A great player like Sachin knows when he should retire and it is not for me to comment about. The memory of great players lives for a long long time. For instance Sunil Gawaskar is still remembered for his great achievements,"
On the retirement of batting greats, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman, Dev said that they will be missed for a long time and no alternative to the two had been found yet.
Meanwhile, The Times of India reports that Kapil Dev said that the resumption of sub-continental cricket links is a "a good development".
Kapil said that the Dec-Jan T20-ODI India-Paksitan series will help improve relations between the neighbours.
“The matches will be played in between England's November-January series in India when the tourists return home for 15 days for the Christmas break, according to an agreement between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB),” says the report.
