Ajay Maken offers Group A coach's job at SAI to Girisha

Union sports minister Ajay Maken offered London Paralympics silver medallist HN Girisha he job of a coach at theSports Authority of India ( SAI), says a report in The Times of India.

Maken had earlier announced that the athlete will be awarded with a cash prize of 30 lakh. Maken tweeted, “Paralympic silver medallist Girisha to be offered a coach's job in Sports Authority of India at an officer level!”


Meanwhile, the Karnataka Government will award Girisha with 5 lakh rupees, says a report in Deccan Herald.

“The State Government intends to award him Rs 5 lakh that is given to Olympians from the State,” said Sports Minister Appachu Ranjan.

Other than that, Paralympic Committee of India has also announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for Girisha.

Girisha after winning the silver medal, said, “I am very happy that finally my hard work has earned results. It is a pity that in India every sportsperson gets help but as fas as para athletes are concerned, only government takes care of us. No one takes us seriously but our hard work is no less than any Olympic medalists.”

Girisha also said that London Olympics silver medallist Sushil Kumar is his role model.

“Sushil won bronze in Beijing and now silver in London. He is a true role model and champion”, he said.
