My strength was discipline, good attitude and mental strength and I will try pass that to youngsters: Glenn McGrath

Former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath will succeed Dennis Lillee as the Director at the MRF Pace Foundation, says a report in The Hindu.

“We thought long and hard and we could not have found a better candidate than McGrath”, said Lillee.

“I had grown up in New South Wales watching and admiring Lillee. He was a great fast bowler. It will be a challenge for me to continue his legacy here”, said McGrath.

Speaking on the MRF Pace Academy, McGrath said, ““It has not only helped pacemen from India but also those from all over the world. I came here in 1992 as a young paceman. It was just great learning from Lillee.”

“This is a huge opportunity. I would be doing what I like to do. India is probably one of the hardest places for the fast bowler to excel”, he added.

Lillee on the occasion recalled the starting days, ““When I spoke to Ravi many years ago I had my doubts about the success of the foundation and only wanted to give it a few years. It was the extraordinary support extended by MRF that made this journey possible,” as he was quoted saying in Deccan Chronicle.

“The team at MRF is fabulous and I am sure I will be able to give something back to the game. My strength as a bowler was discipline, good attitude and mental strength. I will try and pass that along to the youngsters at the foundation”, said McGrath.
