Unmukt finds a supporter in Kapil Dev

The kind of support that India U-19 skipper Unmukt Chand has received, it seems like his academic problem will end soon. Unmukt who won the U-19 World Cup recently, has been barred to sit for his first year exams due to low attendance by hi college.

A report in The TOI says that amidst all support, Unmukt found a new supporter in Kapil Dev who feels that the matter should be resolved amicably.

"Nothing is impossible if people sit together and work things out. The fact is that Unmukt and his team have made us proud with their performance," says Kapil.

However he also made a valid point saying, "Education is very important in life. Cricket will go on till one is 30 or 32, but your qualifications remain with you all your life. The key is to strike the right balance between the two. During my time, I ignored education and I have suffered because of that. In those days, there was nobody to guide us and make us realise the importance of academics."

"Of course, they can. On the days when they are not travelling to represent the country, they should attend their classes. When they have their practice sessions, they could request authorities for extra classes. And colleges/universities should make these provisions. That's the only way we can encourage sports in the country and also ensure that students don't lose out on academics,” Kapil added

"Let's not forget Anil Kumble, Srinath and Srikanth are all engineers. If they managed to make time to study as well as pursue cricket, others can too. Where there is a will, there is a way,” Kapil was quoted by The TOI.
