The Times of India writes that Indian women's boxing national coach Anoop Kumar was content with Mary Kom’s performance at the London Olympics. "I am satisfied with Mary Kom's performance. She changed her weight category and it was not easy," Anoop was quoted in the report.
"The medal has given Mary Kom the confidence to go for the big tournaments. She is a strong contender for gold at the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games," he said.
The report also mentioned Anoop as saying that Mary Kom will not go back to her 48kg weight category, after having fought in the 51kg category in the Olympics. "Just wait, six months from now, no boxer would be able to stand in front of her in 51kg," added Anoop.
Meanwhile The Indian Express writes that Mary has confirmed that her career is far from over and she is not retiring anytime soon. “I won a medal and am happy. But at the same time, I didn’t want to return with just a bronze. If my body remains fit, I want to take part at the Rio Olympics as well and come back with a gold,” the report quoted her.
“I have heard that perhaps there will be six categories included for the Rio Olympics. And if the 48 or 46kg category is introduced, that will be a huge help for me as well,” she added.
