All eyes on Sushil Kumar on last day after Yogeshwar Dutt’s spectacular win

All eyes will be on the Beijing bronze medallist Sushil Kumar on the last day of the competitions at London Olympics, says a report in The Hindustan Times.

Earlier, Yogeshwar Dutt made India proud by clinching the bronze medal in the men’s 60kg category. Indian grapplers were struggling in the tournament and it took Dutt to win three bouts in less then one hour to win the bronze for India.

Yogeshwar pulled off a spectacular victory over  North Korea's Ri Jong Myong to win the medal.

“It is a dream come true to win an Olympic medal. I have worked very hard for it, and I can't describe how I am feeling now. It is a very special moment for me. I sacrificed a lot and have worked for this for the last 21 years. Since my childhood I always wanted to win an Olympic medal, and now I have achieved that dream. I was a little worried because I had to fight with Olympic champions and world champions. When I lost the quarterfinal to the Russian, I was wondering whether I will actually get a chance. But God had other ideas, and here I am with the bronze medal”, said Yogeshwar after the win.

Yogeshwar who injured his eye in the process said, “I got hurt in the earlier round, but in the Olympics we can't worry about these kind of injuries. We have to get out and fight.”

Meanwhile, a report in The Times of India says that Yogeshwar’s family stopped watching his bouts after he lost to the Russian.

His brother was quoted by TOI saying, “We didn't watch any of his bouts after he lost to the Russian (Besik Kudukhov). My mother was busy praying for him -- we thought if he missed out on gold at least he can bring back a bronze. Yogeshwar called up after he lost his second bout. He said that luck didn't favour him against the Russian. I just told him to enjoy his time on the mat and results will come.”
