Vikas Krishan knocked out of London Olympics as AIBA overturns result in opponent’s favour

Vikas Krishan has been knocked out of the London Olympics as AIBA overturned the result of India boxer's bout 15-13 in favour of USA's Errol Spence, says a report in The Times Of India, adding that late on Friday night, Krishan was awarded a 13-11 victory in the 69kg category against the American.

Hours after he reached the quarterfinals in the 69 kg category, boxer Vikas Krishan was knocked out of the London Olympics. The result of Krishan's bout was overturned by International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) on Saturday morning.  The AIBA has now declared Spence as the winner and four extra points have been awarded to him. The final score now is 15-13 in favour of the American boxer. Spence will now take on Andrey Zamkovoy of Russia in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile according to a report in Deccan Chronicle, the mixed doubles quarterfinal match between India's Leander Paes and Sania Mirza and their Belarussian opponents was postponed till Saturday because of fading light at the Wimbledon courts here on Friday.

The top-seeded Belarussian pair of Max Mirnyi and Victoria Azarenka were leading 7-5, 3-2 when play was called off for the day. The contest will resume on Saturday. The two teams went neck and neck till 5-5 before Sania and Paes were broken in the 12th game to concede the first set which lasted for 47 minutes.
