Former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi on Sunday said one should not "jump the gun" and prosecute leg-spinner Rahul Sharma, who faces possible arrest after testing positive for consumption of drugs at a rave party in May, says a report in The DNA.
"Let's not jump the gun and rather see what actually it is," the former Indian spinner said when asked if the Punjab bowler should be banned from cricket for his offence, adding, "What guarantee you have that you are not going into speculation," says the DNA report.
Meanwhile former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram lauded the Indian selectors' decision to pick Irfan Pathan for the ongoing tour of Sri Lanka and said the Baroda speedster is the best choice to fill the all-rounder's slot in the team, says a report in The Times Of India.
"He only needs a longer run to get his confidence back. I think Pathan is a better choice than any other all-rounder in India. He has improved a lot. I think it's important for Pathan and India that they need somebody at number seven or eight who can bowl and bat and this guy has got the ability," Akram told a sports website from London.
According to a report in The Times Of India, Virat Kohli said the Test century he scored against Australia in their own backyard last season, gave him the confidence to do well in all formats. Kohli scored his 12th ODI hundred, his fourth in last five innings, to contribute in India’s 21-run win over Sri Lanka in the first ODI.
“Doing well in Australia, a strong side, really boosted my confidence, and that Test hundred really helped. You get maximum satisfaction when you score runs in Test cricket. I got confident about my game,” Kohli said.
