Sushil Kumar's belarus training to get delayed by five days

Deccan Herald writes that Sushil Kumar will skip his training in Belarus for five days and will now head straight to London for the Olympics opening ceremony on July 27 where he is the flag-bearer of the Indian contingent.

The wrestlers were supposed to leave for Minsk on July 19th but their departure was delayed as originally they had the invitation for training from July 23. Now, they will leave on Sunday, but Sushil will stay back and train in India as he did not get a double entry visa for Belarus.

“Since the trip to Belarus was already delayed, we decided to stay back and train here. We will leave on the morning of July 26 and after attending the ceremony we will leave for Belarus on July 28. Sushil will still get a week’s time to train with other wrestlers at Belarus. It will not hamper his training,” Vinod was quoted in the report.

A report in The Hindu writes that Indian hockey coach Michael Nobbs has said that the team’s poor performance during its European tour was just a learning process ahead of the 2012 London Olympic Games that starts next week.

The report further added that Nobbs admitted that the Indian team failed to find the desired results during the tour of France and Spain but it has helped them to spot the grey areas.

“Well, don’t go by the results, we used this tour as a learning process. It was like find and fix exercise. Tried to find out what are our grey areas and what the things we need to do are,” Nobbs was quoted in the report.

“We used all the players in these matches (Test series against Spain and South Africa and in tri-series). Except South Africa, other teams Spain and England are much higher ranked then us. The tour taught us the importance of playing against strong teams,” the Australian added.
