Former India spinner Sunil Joshi has decided to retire from international and first class cricket. “Joshi will announce his retirement from international and first-class cricket on June 21,” Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) said. Left-arm spinner Joshi played for India between 1996 and 2001. Veteran Karnataka and India bowler Sunil Joshi will formally announce his retirement from international and first-class cricket on Thursday.
The 42-year-old is currently serving as coach of the Hyderabad Ranji Trophy team and had, in effect, bowed out at the end of the 2010-11 domestic season. Joshi played 15 Tests and 69 ODIs for India between 1996 and 2001. The left-arm spinner was a mainstay of the Karnataka team since his debut in 1992-93, taking 615 first-class wickets. The Ranji Trophy semifinal loss to Baroda last January was his last first-class game.

BCCI chief appears before CBI: BCCI president and India Cements managing director N Srinivasan appeared before the CBI in Hyderabad in connection with a disproportionate assets case against YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday. Srinivasan is currently being probed by the CBI sleuths at Dilkusha guest house, sources said. The CBI is probing the alleged investments made by India Cements in the firms promoted by Reddy, during the tenure of his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy as Andhra Pradesh chief minister.
Lanka prevail in thriller: Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by two wickets in the fifth and final ODI in Colombo on Monday to clinch the series 3-1. Sri Lanka achieved a 248-run target with two balls to spare in the day-night match, with Angelo Mathews (80 not out) and Dinesh Chandimal (54) scoring half-centuries for the hosts. The third Onedayer was abandoned due to rain. Earlier, opener Imran Farhat and Umar Akmal cracked half-centuries as Pakistan posted 247/7.
Promising Maynard dies in accident: Surrey's Tom Maynard, one of most promising batsmen, has died at the age of 23, the county said on Monday. Maynard was killed after being struck by a London Underground train in the early hours this morning. In a statement, Surrey said Maynard, the son of former Glamorgan and England batsman Matthew Maynard, was "an incredibly talented young batsman".
