Parvinder Awana finally overcomes his visa woes, to join team in Windies

Parvinder Awana, who had a fantastic IPL Season V and was chosen to represent India A in West Indies, finally sorted out his visa formalities which delayed his departure for days and now will depart early on Sunday for the Caribbean to join his India A teammates, says a report in The Times Of India.

Awana was picked in the India A team as a replacement for the injured RP Singh on May26 and will now be joining the team in the middle of the second Test against West Indies A.

Sources indicated that Awana, whose impressive IPL performances earned him a ticket into the side, had lost out on playing time since he had a good chance of making it to the playing XI from the very first match. The delay was primarily because of the UK transit visa required for flying to the West Indies.

Meanwhile young boys from all over the capital will bear the sizzling summer heat for the next few days as they take part in the trials for the Delhi U-14 team at the Ferozshah Kotla ground, says a Hindustan Times report , adding that they will hope to make the initial shortlist of 100 first before making it to the probables' list.

“However, what these hopefuls --- up to 1,000 could turn up --- don't know is the process itself is uncertain as it is caught in an ego clash between the Delhi and District Cricket Association's (DDCA) sports committee, which announced the trials, and its opponents,” says the report.

On Sunday, DDCA vice-president Chetan Chauhan sent out a notice that the camp has been postponed due to “unavoidable circumstances” whereas the Sports Secretary Sunil Dev, however, said the camp will go ahead as planned.
