Mumbai Indians captain and star Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh’s long time girlfriend Geeta Basra has denied any reports of their marriage in September this year, reports The Hindustan Times.
There were rumors that the two might tie the knot this summer and the reports also stated that the gala wedding would flag off in Yorkshire, England (Geeta’s hometown) and wind up somewhere in Punjab (Bhajji’s hometown). But Geeta has denied it saying that it is a ridiculous rumor. Geeta said that such reports can hurt the feelings of the people involved and slammed the media of publishing such reports.
“People should realise that such reports could be hurtful. Once such stories come out, I have to answer and clarify things with my family and producers. It’s not easy to make your way into the industry, and ‘marriage talk’ can affect it,” she says, adding sarcastically, “Forget getting married, I apparently have already had a ‘roka’ and a break-up with him, according to the media.”
Meanwhile, IPL season five winning captain Gautam Gambhir has suggested that the franchises should be made to pay heavy fines if they are not able to control some of their players conduct in the tournament, reports The Indian Express.
Gambhir said that it is impossible for BCCI and IPL to control player’s action off-field and franchises should take care of it. He said that BCCI cannot keep a watch on every player. He also suggested that players with a history of binge drinking and who have got into trouble in the past should be taken extra care of and the franchises should not hesitate to put a curfew on them.
