If Sourav Ganguly’s sixth sense is to be believed Kolkata Knight Riders will win IPL-5 but the team would look to avoid two-time defending champions Chennai in the summit clash on May 27.
“My sixth sense says that Kolkata will win IPL-V this time. In sport there are several winning moments, I see them with Kolkata. Luck, it seems, is also with Kolkata,” Sourav Ganguly said referring to the toss won by Gambhir on the last two occasions in Pune.
“Kolkata, however, would look to avoid facing Chennai in the final. Otherwise, they look to be the best team to win the IPL this time,” he said. “Cricket is like a circle. There is one team this year and another next year. Hope Pune win IPL next year,” he added, according to a report in The Times Of India.
Meanwhile wounded Delhi Daredevils would be eager to draw inspiration from their own performances in the league stages for a spot in the final of the ongoing Indian Premier League when they take on a rejuvenated Chennai Super Kings in the second qualifying match here tomorrow.
Having topped the table with 11 wins out of 16 matches at the league stage, the Daredevils were humbled by Kolkata Knight Riders in the first qualifier in Pune on Tuesday, says an Indian Express report.
The high-flying Daredevils failed to live up to their expectations with a string of mediocre performances in their previous game against KKR and tomorrow is their last chance to redeem their reputation of being the most consistent side of the IPL V so far.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, two days after a dharna led by Kirti Azad demanding that the cricket Board show accountability in the wake of the controversies in the IPL, the member of the 1983 World Cup winning squad finds himself alone.
His former Delhi team mates appear to have deserted him. Those he had invited for the sit-in at the Ferozshah Kotla now say they have nothing to do with his campaign. Former India 'keeper Surinder Khanna said, “He is an old friend. We have been together for 40 years. So, when he invited me, I had to be there for the sake of friendship. My attending the dharna doesn't mean I believe in whatever he is saying. There are people who go to Anna Hazare's rallies, but not everyone agrees with his stand.”
