It has been a tough last one year for India’s World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh who came to his home town, Chandigarh, for the first time after his successful recovery from a rare germ cell cancer. According to a report in The Times Of India, Yuvi sought guidance from his spiritual gurus regarding his comeback to international cricket. “Soon after landing in Chandigarh, Yuvraj, along with mother Shabnam, headed for Fatehgarh Sahib near here to seek blessings from his gurus, Hansaliwale Baba Ajit Singh and Baba Ram Singh,” says the report.
“We are going to thank our gurus for all the love, support and blessings they have showered on my son. He will ask them about his comeback to cricket and then decide the date. Yuvi is very religious and likes to go and visit his gurus on his own. I don’t have to tell him anymore to be religious. He visited his gurus even before the World Cup last year,” Yuvraj’s mother told TOI just before leaving for Fatehgarh Sahib.
Meanwhile according to a report in The Indian Express, tired of replying to the queries regarding his illness, Yuvraj Singh, recovering from a rare germ cell cancer between his lungs, on Tuesday said it makes him feel ill again when people keep asking him about his health.
"Don't ask me about my illness. You make me feel as if I am still sick," Yuvraj said in a brief interaction with the reporters in Chandigarh.
According to a DNA report, Yuvraj, who arrived in the city on Tuesday, went home from the airport. Determined to get well soon, Yuvraj thanked his fans, friends and well-wishers for supporting him during his hour of crisis. “It was hard for me to digest when I was diagnosed (with cancer) but that’s the way life is. I’ve fought a tough battle, it’s been gruelling for me and my family. I am thankful to fans for the support I got throughout my illness. I am happy to be back home, to a place where I was brought up,” he said.
Meanwhile Master Blaster speaking for the first time on his nomination to the Rajya Sabha said that he is a sportsperson and not a politician. “I want to clarify that I'm not a politician. I will always remain a sportsman. Cricket is my life and will remain one. Though I'm an MP now, I will keep playing. After retirement, I will try to do whatever I can for sports and sportsmen in my new capacity. Since sports is my expertise, I can contribute in that regard,” said Sachin according to a TOI report.
