EPL: City’s title hopes receive a serious hope after 3-3 draw against Sunderland

Manchester: Manchester City made a staged a great comeback to register a 3-3 draw against low ranked Sunderland but their late surge was not enough to put their agonies at rest who now have only have one win from last four games and are now two points behind the English Premier league leaders Manchester United.


United now have a golden opportunity to go five points clear of the bitter rivals City when they take on Blackburn Rovers on Monday.

Sunderland opened the scoring for Sebastian Larsson right footer found the nets at the half way mark. But City equalized 12 minutes later when Marion Balotelli converted from the spot.

Sunderland playing some terrific football soon got the equalizer when Nicklas Bendtner headed one home. Teams went into the breather with the score line of 2-1.

Sunderland however made it clear that they have it what it takes to be a giant killer and soon scored his second goal of the match when he converted a pass by Bendtner.

With five minutes left for the final whistle it looked like Sunderland would pick up their biggest victory in the current season but a late comeback by City ensured that they do not slip away. A goal by Balotelli and the equalizer by Aleksandar Kolarov saved them the blushes and avoided further damage to their championship hope which has been dented seriously after the draw.
