Adriano to begin practicing with Flamengo

Rio de Janeiro: On the same day Corinthians officially terminated Adriano's contract, the controversial striker declared that he will begin practicing with his former football team Flamengo.

Corinthians announced Friday that the reason behind Adriano's dismissal was due to lack of professionalism and dedication.

Legally, the team's justification safeguards the club from having to pay an estimated $1 million fine to the striker.

However, Adriano promised to take the matter to court to receive what is rightfully his.

Also Friday, Flamengo's vice-president of football Paulo Cesar Coutinho announced the return of Adriano to the club.

No contract has been signed between both parties. Rather the club has offered Adriano to use its facilities in order to fully recover from his torn achilles tendon and get back into shape.

The former Inter Milan striker is expected to participate in his first practice with Flamengo March 26. (IANS)
