Berlin: Bottom of the table, German Bundesliga team Kaiserslautern has sacked coach Marco Kurz, the club announced Wednesday.
Kaiserslautern parted way with Kurz and his assistant Guenther Gorenzel after a record of sixteen winless matches in row.
"After the 1-4 defeat against Schalke and many discussions, we have come to the common conclusion that we must take this step. We have tried, in recent weeks and month, many different measures to bring the team back on track. Unfortunately this was not successful", Kaiserslautern chairman Stefan Kuntz was quoted as saying by Xinhua.
For now co-trainer Oliver Schaefer and goal-keeping coach Gerry Ehrmann will take charge of the team until the club names a new coach.
Kurz became the coach of Kaiserslautern in 2009/2010 to lead the club into first division. In his first season in first division he reached seventh position in the standings. Currently Kaiserslautern occupies eighteenth position of the standings, which is a direct relegation spot. (IANS)
