City goes five points adrift of Man U at the top of the points table

Manchester: A Mario Balotelli goal and an own goal by Gretar Steinsson helped Manchester City register a win 2-0 win over the Bolton Wanderers in a league matchup of the English Premier League played here at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

This was city’s 12th win out of 14th at home and also helped them go five points clear of the rivals Manchester United at the top of the table.

But the big match of day was between the rivals Arsenal and Liverpool played at the Anfiled with the Gunners winning 2-1 thanks to a brace Robin Van Persie including an injury time goal.

Arsenal went down in the 23rd minute due own goal by Laurent Koscielny found the equalizer in the 31st minute through Van Persie which was also his 30th goal of the season. The match saw few intense moments with both the sides missing on real chances, with Liverpool finding the post on two occasions and also had a penalty saved. But as luck would have it, an injury time volley by Dutchman saw them go three points clear of the Reds to move to fourth position on the league table.

The Dutchman equalised a Laurent Koscielny own goal in the first half before scoring with a brilliant volley in injury time to lift his side clear in fourth, three points ahead of Chelsea, who were stunned 1-0 at West Bromwich Albion.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger who looked after the match said, "We were fortunate it was 1-1 at half-time because we could have been two or three down," Wenger said.

"In the second half I thought if it stayed 1-1 until the last 10 minutes, you never know, we have the quality to create chances. When you see the ball landing at the feet of Van Persie you know he can deliver a special goal. He did that today. In every game he comes up with something special," he added.
The hero of the match, Van Persie said that it was always special to score at Anfield but then said they actually did not deserve to win because Liverpool played much better than then.
