New Delhi: Government High School, Alkapuri, Haryana registered the biggest victory margin in the under-17 girls category of the 53rd Subroto Cup Football tournament when they hammered Government Senior Secondary School, Car Nicobar 17-0 in the Group III league encounter on Thursday.
As many as four players – Munesh, Suman, Sonia and Sanju – scored hat-tricks as the Haryana team completely dominated the proceedings at the Ambedkar stadium.
In another group three match, Government Higher Secondary School, Nagaland thrashed Pravara Kanya Vidya Mandir, Maharashtra 6-1 with Lhaitinlam scoring four goals for the winners.
In Group II, Sri Ramakrishna Saratha High School, Tamil Nadu continued their good run in the tournament so far. The state champions from Tamil Nadu qualified for the quarterfinals at the Nationals with a 5-0 win over Daly College, Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
While it was a day of celebration for Tamil Nadu girls, the girls from Afghanistan were handed a lesson in football by NCC school, Imphal, Manipur. The visitors went down 9-0 in an one-sided encounter.
