I-League: East Bengal square off against Chirag

I-League: East Bengal square off against Chirag Kolkata: Kingfisher East Bengal take on Chirag United Kerala knowing nothing less than a win will keep their slim title hopes alive, in the 25th round I League encouter at the Yuba Bharati Krinangan on Monday.

 

Chirag United Kerala on the other hand need a victory to boost their chances of surviving relegation. East Bengal are on 41 points from 22 matches while Chirag United Kerala are on 17 points from 22 outings.

 

 

For East Bengal it will be a tough few weeks ahead with matches to play in the I-League and in the AFC Cup. Head coach Trevor Morgan decided not make any press comments this morning after their practice sessions. He also did not allow players to speak to press ahead of the crucial match, so that they could concentrate on the match.

Susanth Matthew  who is yet to recover from injury has been ruled out of the match against Chirag United.

Biswajit Bhattacharya head coach of Chirag United Kerala said “We have been in this kind of a position before but this is the ultimate test for us,” knowing fully well that points dropped here and they would be staring at relegation.

“We are going all out for a win tomorrow. This is the only chance we have to avoid relegation.”

Chirag United Kerala would miss the servies of  Captain KN Ajayan due to injury.
