IPL 2018: DD vs MI Preview

mi vs ddThe Delhi Daredevils lock horns with the Mumbai Indians in the last league game of the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League on Sunday (May 20).

While DD are knocked out of the tournament with just 8 points, a win alone can help the Mumbai Indians defend their title in this season. With 12 points in 13 games and a good net run rate, Mumbai Indians are a win away from making it to the final four. With history on their side, MI will step on to the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium with immense belief.

DD are coming on the back of a win against the mighty Chennai side. After a dismal start, DD were able to post a challenging total against CSK, after a late flourish from Harshal Patel and Vijay Shankar. DD bowlers were then able to defend 162 against an in form batting lineup against CSK. With that kind of form, DD will surely fancy their chances against MI.

A lot will depend on the Delhi wicket which wasn’t the ideal wicket for stroke making in the Delhi-CSK game.

Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer are the impact batsmen for Delhi and they will hope that these men fire tonight. DD are clearly a team of the future and they would be looking to end their season on a high which would help them start their next season on a positive.

For Mumbai, Rohit Sharma needs to fire. Rohit hasn’t had a great 2018 so far after a wonderful 2017. Rohit would look to get a big score under his belt today and take that momentum into the Play Offs. Suryakumar Yadav has been the man in form for Mumbai and is the key for Mumbai batting today. Apart from Yadav, Ishan Kishan and Evin Lewis have been amongst the runs and MI will need them to contribute in this must win game.

As far as bowling is concerned- Sandeep and Amit Mishra for DD would be the key apart from Trent Boult who will be handy up front. For MI, Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah and Pandya brothers would hold the key in a high voltage clash.

Here is the penultimate clash from the last day of the league matches from Delhi, and a game which other teams would be following closely and hope for the results to go in their favor for a chance to qualify. Broadcast starts at 16:00 Hours (IST).
