The Royal Challengers Bangalore host the Sunrisers Hyderabad in an attempt to stay alive in the competition and go through to the Play Offs.
RCB have had a rough season so far but they seem to be getting it right near the business end of the tournament and would like to take the momentum and try and upset the table toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad who have been phenomenal in the IPL. Coming out from a great win against the Kings XI Punjab, dismissing the opposition for just 88 runs, and then going out to win the match by 10 wickets- RCB would gain a lot of confidence from that clinical performance, enough to have the believe that they can win against any opponent on a given day.
SRH on the other hand have confirmed their qualification in the Play Offs but would like to seal their top 2 finish at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. AS Kane Williamson had said, SRH would be looking to improve as a unit and fill the small potholes of flaws that they are bound to have before the knock out games.
Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers are two massive batsmen for the hosts tonight. If either or both of them perform well, RCB are sure to have a good outing with the bat but at this stage other batsmen like Parthiv Patel who has scored a few runs in previous games need to bat with more responsibility. In other words, RCB should not be over reliant on their superstars.
Kane Williamson and Shikhar Dhawan have done the majority of the scoring for the Orange Army but as a unit which has been striving for improvement, there is lot of scope in the batting department. The form of Manish Pandey, Hales and the middle order could be an area of concern and something which SRH would like to address and improve in tonight’s game.
Williamson’s dream bowling unit in this IPL has clearly done the trick for his team. However, in their last 2 outings it has looked a little out of place. Williamson and CO. would like to pull that off a bit before the Play Offs. Yuzvendra Chahal and Umesh Yadav are key weapons for Kohli and especially at the Bangalore wicket- Chahal would be more than handy. Yadav too is coming from a man of the match performance in Indore and he has looked lethal with the new ball this IPL.
Must win for RCB if they want to keep the chants of “Ee Sala Cupu Namde Alive”! (This year the cup will be ours) Broadcast Starts at 20:00 Hours.
