Although the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore was the home ground of Kings XI Punjab, Virat Kohli and company received enormous support from the crowd. A fully packed Holkar Stadium in Indore cheered for RCB as much as they did for Punjab and perhaps that motivated the Bangalore Brigade which won in grand style. RCB defeated the Kings XI Punjab by 10 wickets on Monday at the backyard of the Punjab XI in Indore.
The Royal Challengers won the toss and elected to bowl first on Monday. This proved to be a good decision from captain Kohli as Punjab was bowled out for a meagre 88. In response, RCB got there in just the 9th over, without losing any wickets. With this win, RCB stay alive in the competition as they give themselves an outside chance of qualifying for the Play offs.
Umesh Yadav who was the architect of a great bowling effort from RCB was adjudged the Player of the Match for his wonderful performance. Yadav picked up 3 wickets for 23 runs in his four overs, the wickets including the duo of Gayle and Rahul.
In the run chase, RCB needed no one other than the opening batsmen Virat Kohli (48*) and Parthiv Patel (40) who batted beautifully to steer RCB home. This was Punjab’s lowest total at this venue and they now need to play two must win games from here, in order to qualify.
