IPL 2018: KXIP vs RCB Preview

kxiprcbThe Kings XI Punjab play their last home game of the season against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday (May 14).

In the initial days of the tournament, Kings XI looked quite a force to reckon with. However, they have won only won 1 of their next 5 matches and find themselves in the survival race to the Play offs. Gayle hasn’t delivered in three consecutive games now and it is high time that the star opener finds some momentum going into the Play offs. Punjab batting clearly looks over reliant on KL Rahul and a lot depends tonight on the form of the middle order. KXIP were blown away by the KKR in their previous game, where KKR scored a mammoth 245.

RCB on the other hand are also somehow alive in the competition. They come back on the back of a great win against the Delhi Daredevils. RCB too have been far too dependent on their stars AB and Virat. When neither of the two have performed, RCB have looked a completely different team altogether and hasn’t scared another team.

Chris Gayle has only 1 significant contribution in Indore’s Holkar Stadium. Given the batsmen friendly conditions here, with short boundaries, Gayle remains the impact batsmen tonight. KL Rahul has been phenomenal in the season but clearly has run short of partners on many occasions. Batsmen like Karun Nair and Aaron Finch should put their hands up and score some runs given the condition of the team.

For RCB, Virat and AB remain the pillars of the batting and the superstars would hope to continue their good form from the Delhi encounter to the remainder of the tournament. Andrew Tye and Mujeeb Ur Rehman for Kings XI have clearly done a terrific job for their time and same is the case with Umesh Yadav, who has rediscovered himself this season.

Expecting a run feast tonight from the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. Broadcast starts at 20:00 Hours (IST).
