The Chennai Super Kings take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad at their home ground in Pune on Sunday (May 13). While Chennai have still not confirmed their qualification for the Play Offs, SRH have already made it to the final four but are aiming at Top 2 finish to ensure a second chance in case of a bad day in the Play Offs.
Kane Williamson’s SRH have 9 wins from 11 games and have stitched together 6 wins in a row. While the SRH bowlers have usually done the job for the team, in a previous few matches their batting has looked settled and in form. This suggests that their batsmen might be peaking just at the right time to ensure a good performance during the business end of the tournament.
CSK, on the other hand, are coming on the back of a defeat against the Rajasthan Royals and would like to work on their bowling unit which hasn’t been the best in the tournament. CSK are the only team with fours batsmen that have scored more than 300 runs- Watson, Dhoni, Raina and Rayudu are all amongst the runs which is a heathy sign for the team.
As far as impact batsmen are concerned- the in-form four batsmen will be on the limelight. However, the other overseas batsmen in the batting order- Faf du Plessis/ Sam Billings haven’t been as impressive and that could be something that CSK would like to improve.
Kane Williamson has been remarkably consistent for SRH and with a return to form for Shikhar Dhawan, SRH batting looks far more formidable. The form of Manish Pandey in that batting unit is definitely a matter of concern and if Manish Pandey finds his touch SRH will become even more dangerous.
SRH bowlers are one of the most successful in the tournament and all their bowlers have done a commendable job. For CSK- Deepak Chahar, and the spin duo of Harbhajan Singh and Ravindra Jadeja who were incredible the last time they played here would be the bowlers to watch out for.
It is a battle between the master chasers and the champion defenders at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Broadcast Starts 16:00 Hours (IST).
