The Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils are all set to lock horns on Thursday (May 10) evening at the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground in Delhi. The encounter is seen as the top versus bottom clash. SRH have pretty much qualified for the play offs while Delhi are virtually out of the tournament. Despite the contrasting positions at the table, the DD-SRH encounter shall be a treat for cricket lovers since DD is expected to a play fearless brand of cricket and as they have shown so often, on their day can upset any opposition. SRH on the other hand shall not be in any mood to get complacent and drop the level of performance. Hyderabad, do have a few issues to address and the think tank would expect that they get those started before the Play-Offs.
With 3 wins from 10 games- DD have no choice but to win all their remaining games and at the same time expect few other results to go in their favor. SRH on the other hand have won 8 of their 10 games but would not like to lose momentum at this stage of the tournament.
DD can take some tough calls tonight ahead of the game. The overseas batsmen haven’t performed as per reputation and could make way or other batsmen who haven’t got as many chances as they would have liked. Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant have been firing for them as far as batting is concerned and a good performance from their overseas batsman will make it more holistic and complete.
SRH batsmen also have struggled in the tournament. Apart from Kane Williamson’s repeated efforts to lead his team to a respectable total, there haven’t been many stand out performers. The team would like that their batsmen finally play themselves into form. A convincing innings from Sihkhar Dhawan, Alex Hales and Manish Pandey is more than due now and SRH will hope that they will go into the Play offs as in form batsmen.
When it comes to bowling-SRH have the master executers of power play, middle and death overs bowling plans. Kane Williamson has a dream bowling attack but has been an astute leader as well while making bowling changes and attacking the opposition, almost choking the batsmen to a false shot. Bhuvi and Rashid Khan shall be the spearhead of the most effective bowling unit of the season.
For Delhi, Trent Bolt is the man to look out for. The left arm pacer has been in good form and Delhi would expect him to be amidst the wickets tonight. Avesh Khan has been impressive but has had a mixed season so far. DD will hope that a few good outings still remain in him for the season to help Delhi edge out a team like Hyderabad.
