On Sunday at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, Kings XI Punjab defeated the Rajasthan Royals by 6 wickets. This was Punjab’s 6th win from 9 matches and the third defeat for Rajasthan in as many matches. Although star batsman Chris Gayle (8) failed in the match, opener KL Rahul batted through the innings to help Punjab cross the line at their home ground in Indore. Kl Rahul faced 54 balls for his 84* and returned only after Punjab had secured 2 more points on the table. This was Punjab’s first win Indore this season.
On Friday, Punjab had faced a defeat against the Mumbai Indians after they shifted base to Indore. Rajasthan Royals played their first game in Indore since 2011 and lost yet again. Kings XI skipper R Ashwin won the toss and elected to field first which has been the trend in the tournament. With the help of Jos Buttler’s 51, Rajasthan managed to score 152 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.
In response, Kings XI Punjab got there with the help of useful contributions from KL Rahul (84*), Karun Nair (31) and Marcus Stoinis (23*). Mujeeb Ur Rahman who picked up 3 wickets was the Player of the Match in this game. Indore host the Kolkata Knight Riders next on 12th May.
