MI beat KKR by 13 runs to stay alive in the competition

hardik mThe Mumbai Indians defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders by 13 runs on Sunday (May 6). This was Mumbai’s 7th straight win against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the last four years. When both the teams meet next at Eden Gardens, a venue where MI skipper Rohit Sharma relishes playing, this would definitely play at the back of the minds of the players of both the teams and MI will definitely go into this match as the more confident side.

To put things into perspective, the two heavyweights have faced each other in 22 encounters and MI have won the battle on 17 occasions. On Sunday at their home ground- the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, MI batted first to put on 181 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Opener Suryakumar Yadav top scored for the team yet again with his innings of 59 runs. Hardik Pandya’s 20 ball 35 helped MI finish strongly after a loss of momentum in the middle overs.

In response, KKR was caught short by 13 runs, despite Robin Uthappa’s 54. With this win, MI stay alive in the race of Play-offs. Hardik Pandya became MI’s savior with the ball as well- with figures of 2/19 in four overs. For his all-round performance, Hardik was adjudged the Player of the Match.
