Chris Gayle’s 40 ball half century and Marcus Stoinis’s good finish at the back end of the innings did not prove to enough at the Holkar Stadium. Player of the Match Suryakumar Yadav made 57 runs and gave MI the perfect start in the run chase. After this, skipper Rohit Sharma and Krunal Pandya’s timely counter attack ensured that MI win the match with an over to spare.
On Friday (May 4), MI registered their third win in the tournament. MI won the toss and invited the Kings to have a bat first on a batting friendly surface. The Kings despite a good start and a strong finish managed 174 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. 22 runs came of the last over itself, which goes on to show how MI dominated the middle overs.
MI timed their chase to perfection. Perhaps they could have finished it an over or 2 earlier, however MI would be really happy with the win. With 6 points on the points tally, MI stay alive in the competition.
