Rishabh, Shreyas aid Delhi to 3rd win

pant mIn the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on Wednesday (May 2), the Delhi Daredevils defeated the Rajasthan Royals by 4 runs in a rain affected encounter. Because of the rain, the match was delayed from its scheduled start by 90 minutes and started at 21:30 Hours (IST). The match was reduced to 18 overs a side.

After the start of the game, Delhi mustered 196 runs in 17.1 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. However, rain again played a spoilsport and RR were given a target of 151 runs in 12 overs. D’Arcy Short (44) and Jos Buttler (67) provided the RR a great start and Rajasthan looked in total control of the run chase until the dismissal of both the players.

After their dismissal, RR could not really carry on the momentum and fell short of the target by 4 runs. Earlier half centuries by Rishabh Pant (69), Captain Shreyas Iyer (50) and a healthy contribution from Prithvi Shaw (47) paved the way for a strong DD total.

This was Rajasthan’s fifth defeat in 8 games while the third victory for DD in 9 matches.
