Shane Watson (78 runs, 40 balls) and MS Dhoni (51* runs, 22 balls) helped CSK get back on the winning track after a slight hick up against Mumbai Indians. Because of the duo’s aggressive batting Chennai posted a match winning total of 211 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. In response despite Rishabh Pant and Vijay Shankar’s heroics, Delhi Daredevils fell short by 13 runs.
Delhi managed to gather 198 runs on the board but were well and truly alive in the game till the end because of Vijay Shankar and Pant’s master innings. This was Chennai’s sixth win in the tournament in 8 games and sixth defeat for the Delhi Daredevils in as many matches. Chennai reclaim the top position in the points table with that win while Delhi sill remain at the rock bottom of the points tally.
Shane Watson who scored 4 boundaries and 7 sixes in his innings, was adjudged the Player of the Match.
