In the 29th match of 11th edition of the Indian Premier League on Sunday, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated the Rajasthan Royals by 11 runs to reach the summit of the points table. Captain Kane Williamson (63) aided SRH to a total of 151 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Apart from Williamson, opener Alex Hales, who made his IPL debut on Sunday contributed 45 runs.
In response, Rajasthan could only manage 140 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane made 65 runs and remained unbeaten till the end but failed to finish the game for his team. This was sixth victory for Sunrisers in 8 matches while it was the fourth defeat for RR in 7 games. With this result, the race for the fourth spot is wide open and Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and even the Delhi Daredevils are all fighting it out for the fourth spot.
The Sunrisers are looking good with 12 points on the table and are not far away from a place in the playoffs.
