New captain brings a ray of hope into DD camp as Daredevils beat KKR by 55 runs

shreyas iyer294Out of form Gautam Gambhir’s replacement as a captain of the Delhi Daredevils, Shreyas Iyer relished his debut as a captain and smashed 93 runs of just 40 balls studded 10 mammoth sixes to ensure that Delhi Daredevils beat the Kolkata Knight Riders by 55 runs and win their second match of the competition. Prior to this DD had won only 1 game in 6 matches.

On Friday, against the Kolkata Knight Riders, DD on the back of healthy contributions from Prithvi Shaw (62), Colin Munro (33) and Glenn Maxwell (27) apart from a terrific captain’s knock from Shreyas Iyer, who was also adjudged the Player of the Match, made 219 runs for the loss of 4 wickets after 20 overs.

In response, the Kolkata Knight Riders managed to muster only 164/9 in 20 overs and lost the match by 55 runs. Andre Russell’s 30 ball 44 did not prove to be enough. Trent Boult, Glenn Maxwell, Avesh Khan and Amit Mishra picked up 2 wickets a piece.

This was Delhi’s second win in 7 matches and the fourth defeat for KKR in as many games.
