Chennai Super Kings beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 4 runs in the league match of the 11th edition of IPL on Sunday (April 22). With the win, CSK are back at the top of the table. After losing the toss and coming in to bat first, CSK scored 182 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs. Ambati Rayudu, top scored with a brilliant 79. In response, the Sunrisers Hyderabad could muster only 178 on the board for the loss of 6 wickets, 4 runs short of the CSK total.
For the Sunrisers Hyderabad, captain Kane Williamson scored 84 runs. Yusuf Pathan also contributed with 45 runs. Lower down the order, Rashid Khan kept SRH in the game till the last ball with his 4 ball 17.
Chasing 183, SRH could not quite get off to a desired start and lost wickets early. In fact, at 22 SRH were 3 down, the wickets included the likes of Manish Pandey and Deepak Hooda. All the three wickets were picked up by CSK seamer Deepak Chahar. After the loss of 3 wickets, Kane and Shakib Al Hasan revived the innings and kept the chase on track.
Earlier CSK also did not get to the best of starts and were 2 down for 32 with no momentum in the innings. Rayudu along with Suresh Raina (54*) helped CSK score quickly in the end to make up for the slow start. MS Dhoni also looked in terrific touch and contributed 25 of just 12 deliveries.
This was CSK’s 4th win in 5 games and SRH’s 2nd loss in as many matches. CSK are now at the first position in the points table, while SRH are at fourth place.
