Powered by AB de Villiers’s (90*) superb innings, the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 19th match of the 11th edition of IPL defeated the Delhi Daredevils by 6 wickets. This was Bengaluru’s 2nd win in the tournament.
On Saturday at the M Chinnaswami stadium, riding on the half centuries by youngsters Rishabh Pant (85) and Shreyas Iyer (52), the Delhi Daredevils, who batted first, recovered from a slow start to post a competitive 174 /5 in 20 overs.
Yuzvendra Chahal picked up 2 wickets while Umesh Yadav, Washington Sundar and Corey Anderson picked up a wicket each to restrict Delhi to 174.
In response, Bengaluru got there in 18 overs itself and lost only 4 wickets in the process. AB de Villiers played a special knock which was studded with shorts all-round the park but looked a genius at work when he pierced the on side field on several occasions. Skipper Virat Kohli contributed 30 and reclaimed the Orange Cap in the process, Quinton de Kock made 18, Mandeep remained unbeaten on 17 and Corey Anderson made 15.
For the Daredevils, Glenn Maxwell, Trent Boult and Harshal Patel picked up a wicket each. DD remain at the bottom of the table with just 1 win in 5 games and a net run rate of -1.324.
