The Sunrisers Hyderabad would be looking to return to the path of victory after an off game against the Kings XI Punjab, the other day. The Hyderabad franchise would take on the Chennai Super Kings in the 4’o clock (IST) game at Hyderabad on Sunday (April 22).
SRH had a fabulous run in its first 3 games- winning the tosses, dismissing the opposition and then going out to chase the scores. In fact, Hyderabad had picked up 25 out of the 30 wickets in their first three encounters, making the job of the batsmen rather easy. The first time when the Hyderabad bowling was taken apart was when Chris Gayle produced a gem of an innings, and that is when the SRH batting collapsed under score board pressure.
Chennai Super Kings had a contrasting last game- their best performance in the ongoing season, a win against the Rajasthan Royals by 64 runs. Chennai would look forward to carry the confidence in to this game and try and produce a similar result for themselves.
Shane Watson was unstoppable and Suresh Raina looked in good nick in his return game after he recovered from his injury. Ambati Rayudu would be disappointed with himself, having got settled and then throwing his wicket away. Rayudu would try and covert his starts into a big innings and what better occasion than to do it against the Hyderabad’s reputed bowling setup.
Shikhar Dhawan is SRH's biggest weapon at the top of the order and his injury would be quite critical for the team’s performance. SRH would be expecting a lot of runs from the left handed opener if he is fit and donning the Orange jersey in the middle. In the previous game Manish Pandey and skipper Kane Williamson scored half-centuries but they were just not enough on the day. Both the batsmen would try and finish off the job for the team this time around.
SRH bowling has always been their strength and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul have been phenomenal with the ball. However, judging from Chennai’s struggles against spin, Rashid Khan, who had a horror game against Punjab- that produced his worst numbers, and Shakib Al Hasan would be bowlers to watch out for in the Sunday’s encounter.
As far as CSK is concerned, Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur have been impressive and can have a critical role to play in this game. Dwyane Bravo’s death bowling and spinners like Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja and Karn Sharma (who replaced Harbhajan Singh in the previous outing) in the middle overs are also worth keeping an eye on in the match.
SRH-CSK battle make for an action packed Sunday for cricket lovers. Broadcast starts at 16:00 Hours (IST).
