In a shocking incident, a car made its way to the middle of the cricket pitch at the Palam Sports Complex, where the Uttar Pradesh and Delhi Ranji Trophy match was going on. Although being a restricted area, the car driver somehow sneaked in. Under these circumstances the players were left shell shocked to see a car at the middle of the pitch which is otherwise a restricted and protected area. The security lapse left the teams stunned.

The driver of the car repeatedly drove on the pitch with international stars like Gautam Gambir and Ishant Sharma standing close to the wicket. Though no injuries were reported, the incident raised a serious security issue. The incident also comes as surprise because former Indian bowler and current Delhi selector Atul Wassan had a tough time getting entry to the ground in the morning.

The security staff said that the matter would be investigated and action would be taken against the culprit who is reported to be working in a Multinational Company. This was also the third security lapse in a cricket match within 7 days. The other two were at Kanpur and Delhi, the two being international matches.
