Bangladesh announces squad for Asia Cup, Mortaza called back

Dhaka: Bangladesh included former skipper Mashrafe bin Moratza in the 14-man squad while dropping swashbuckling opener Tamim Iqbal for the Asia Cup Cricket Tournament scheduled to be played here from March 11 to 22.

Mortaza recently led the Dhaka Gladiators to win the inaugural season of the Bangladesh Premier League. Besides Mortaza, Nazimuddin, Jahrul Islam, Shahadat Hossain and Anamul Haque were picked up for the squad while dropping three others players along with Iqbal.

The team which was announced on Sunday night however did not reveal the name of the captain and the vice captain.  Bangladesh will play Pakistan in the opening match of the Asia Cup at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

Squad: Imrul Kayes, Nazimuddin, Jahurul Islam, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Nasir Hossain, Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Abdur Razzak, Elias Sunny, Nazmul Hossain, Shafiul Islam, Shahadat Hossain, Anamul Haque.
