Australia on top on Day one

Perth: India’s hopes of leveling the test series took a severe blow after their performance on the first day of the 3rd test match between Australia and India at Perth. Australia won the toss and put India to bat first and than bowled India out for only 161 runs. In reply Australia was 149 for no loss at stumps.

Indian batting failed yet again in this series against the Australian attack lead by Ben Hilfenhaus who took 4 wickets. Virat Kohli was the top scorer with 44 runs. Every Australian bowler had their name in the wicket column.

Australian opener David Warner was the real highlight of the day. He scored an unbeaten 104 runs of just 80 deliveries. Along with Ed Cowan he has put Australia in a very strong position from where they will look to dictate terms to the Indians for the rest of the test match.

Brief Score:

India 161 all out (Kohli 44, Laxman 31, Hilfenhaus 4-43)

Australia 149/0 (Warner 104*, Cowan 40*)
