Saksham’s all-round performance helps Mount Abu Public School win

New Delhi: Saksham Gupta’s all-round performance helped Mount Abu Public School, Rohini beat Bal Bharti Public School, Pitampura by 22 runs in a qualifying knock-out match of Coca Cola Inter-school Cricket Tournament played at Parmarth Cricket Ground here on Saturday.

In the first innings, Mount Abu Public School scored 153 runs. Saksham Gupta scored crucial 39 runs as rests of the team were bowled out in 29.2 overs.

However, Bal Bharti Public School could not capitalise the opportunity and the whole team bundled-out in 131 runs. Saksham showed his all-round abilities and helped his team to restrict the oppositions in 30 overs.

In another match, Ramesh and Sandeep helped Hanraj Smarak Smriti Public School, Dilshad Garden beat Lav Kush International School, Bawana by 25 runs in another low-scoring qualifying knock-out match played at Bharat Nagar in Delhi.

Ramesh 46-run knock steered Hansraj Smarak Smriti Public School to post a target of 114 runs as the rest of the team were bowled out in 33.3 overs.

However, Hansraj Smarak Smriti fought back and with the help of four-wicket haul of Sandeep, they bundled-out Lav Kush International School at 89 runs in 23 overs. Anuj and Kartik gave a good support to Sandeep and claimed three wickets each.

Meanwhile, Rajdeep Maji’s blistering half-century helped Salwan Public School beat Bal Bharti Bal Public School, Ganga Ram Marg by nine runs in another qualifying knock-out match at Vikaspuri G Block in Delhi.

Rajdeep hit marvelous half-century and his 61-run knock steered his team to post 169-run target. Sukmeet Singh supported him with his 49-run knock. Bal Bharti Public School bowler Vansdeep took four wickets, which helped his team to bowled-out Salwan School in 35 overs.

In the second innings, Bal Bharti started with confidence and Pavit Kohli’s 48-run knock brought them close to the target. But they were short of only nine runs and lost the match.

In another match, a great team-spirit helped DPS, Mathura Road beat St. Sofia School, Pashchim Vihar by 26 runs in another qualifying knock-out match at Vikaspuri in Delhi.

Asmeet Alwadhi (43), Umang Gupta (39) and Sanchit Gupta (38) helped DPS, Mathura Road to post 186 runs. But rest of the team collapsed in 35 overs.

In the second innings, St. Sofia School managed to score only 160 runs as rest of the rest of the team were bundled-out in 33.5 overs. Only Mohit Kumar showed some guts with his half-century and made 60 runs.
