Prateek and Akash Parkar shine for Mumbai

Chandigarh: On the first day of four day final of All India Under-19 Invitation Tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy at Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium, Patiala .

 

Mumbai Under – 19 elected to bat first after winning the toss, against Punjab and soon started losing wickets. Mumbai was already four wickets down for 9 runs in the play of six overs. The man to cause  most of the damage was medium pacer Siddharth Sharma who knocked three wickets for seven runs in three overs while the fourth one was consumed by other medium pacer Amritpal Singh.

Thereafter Akash Parkar and Pratek then got together and raised a partnership of 160 runs for the 5th wicket.  Pratik was however dropped in the gully befoe he had opened his score.  This proved costly as he went on to hammer 95 of 165 balls studded with 13 fours.  Akash Parkar scored 85 of 277 balls inclusive of 12 boundaries and one six.  Sagar Kerkar (20) and Mairaj Khan (9) were at the crease at close of play.  Mumbai were 228 for 6 in 93 overs.  Siddharth Sharma 3 for 43 was the most successful bowler for Punjab.  2nd days play will resume tomorrow at 9.15 a.m.
