India and Australia landed in Kolkata on Monday afternoon ahead of the 2nd ODI at the Eden Gardens, this Thursday. Donning white T-shirts, the Men In Blue headed straight to the team hotel along with the support staff and head coach Ravi Shastri.
“There’s no practice schedule today and everyone will be resting,” the local Team India manager said at the airport. BCCI had earlier posted photos of MS Dhoni relaxing at the Chennai Airport Lounge while others were sitting next to the former Indian Captain.
India are 1-0 up in the 5 match ODI series by virtue of a 26 run win by D/L method in a rain affected match on Sunday in Chennai. Dhoni and Hardik Pandya shared a century stand to take India to a challenging 281/7 in 50 overs, after India were reduced to 87/5.
Needing 164 in 21 overs, after rain delay, Australia lost the plot in the run-chase, losing their first four wickets inside 10 overs with hardly any momentum in the innings. Glenn Maxwell’s cameo was Australia’s only real hope in the innings, but as soon as he departed after scoring 39 from 18 balls it was practically game over for the Aussies. The Australian side would like to level the series at Kolkata’s Eden Garden.
Indore, Bengaluru and Nagpur will host the remaining three ODIs while three T20Is are scheduled to be held in Ranchi, Guwahati and Hyderabad in the limited overs series.
