As England beat New Zealand by 87 runs to become the first team to move into the semifinals, let us have a look at a few turning points of the game.
1. England batsmen get starts
Every English batsman got a start and Jos Buttler even managed to stay not out till the very end though wickets continued to fell at the other end and England were eventually bundled up for 310 runs in 49.3 overs itself. This ensured that England were able to put up a fighting score which turned out to be a match winning score courtesy brilliant bowling performance by the English bowlers.
2. Williamson keeps the game alive
When the Kiwis were chasing Kane Williamson kept the game alive with his brilliance with the bat. Williamson scored 87 off 98 balls but as soon as he departed, the team never looked in the contest and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals eventually losing by a big margin.
3. Plunkett picks up 4
In a run chase in which New Zealand were never really in the contest Liam Plunkett picked up 4 wickets and broke through the New Zealand batting order. Plunkett and team ensured that New Zealand are bowled out within 45 overs and England add a well-deserved 2 points to their tally.
