It’s the final of this year’s Indian Premiere League season 10 today. The two best teams of this competition – Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant will take on each other for the fourth time overall in this Vivo IPL 2017 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal in Hyderabad today.
Mumbai will aim to win their 3rd IPL title while for Pune it’s the 1st IPL final.
In an all important final, here are the players to watch out for Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiant:
Mumbai Indians
Kieron Pollard – The hard hitter has had a decent run in the tournament so far but in this big final Mumbai Indians will expect Pollard to fire from the word go. MI would also be keen to use his skills with the ball. Pollard hasn’t bowled yet in this tournament. This change in strategy might help the Mumbai Indians to win the IPL title and also their 1st game against RPS.
Mitchell Johnson – The ace pacer from Australia hasn’t played many matches but he still looks fitter than most of the younger fast bowlers. Johnson bowled a terrific spell against the Kolkata Knight Riders. In this important final MI should use his experience and skills that might help them to tackle the RPS batsmen. He is a good replacement for Mitchell Mcclenaghan. Even if Mcclenaghan is fit, the MI team should pick Johnson instead of the Kiwi pacer.
Pandya Brothers – The Pandya Brothers will have an important role to play in this final. Their all round skills is the plus point that Mumbai Indians have and they should use it. Hardik and Krunal are no mug with the bat as they can score in crunch situations too. Mumbai Indians will need them to beat this the RPS side.
Rising Pune Supergiant
MS Dhoni – The legend will play his 7th final. It will be the most by any player in the 10 seasons of the IPL. MSD will be expected to crack another fire works like he did in qualifier 1. If Mumbai Indians have the best death over bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga, RPS has MS Dhoni as the world best finisher. His is the man who can take away the game in last few overs. RPS will need this legend to fire again in the final.
Steve Smith – The skipper has some decent form going into the final. But he isn’t as consistent as the team requires him to. In this final, RPS will need skipper Smith to fire. Smith will be captaining the side in finals for the first time. So he needs to lead his side from the front.
Jaydev Unadkat – The highest wicket taker for the RPS in this season, Unadkat is the bowler to watch out for in this final. His opening spell and his death over spell are the plus point for the RPS. Skipper Smith will want this young fast bowler to make a mark in this final.
Washington Sundar – The young spinner has been a great find for the RPS. He bowled a magnificent spell against the Mumbai Indians in qualifier 1. Pune will want his youngster to shine in this final
