• Virat Kohli – The Skipper was in blazing form before the 1st test match in Pune. He had a good run against South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, New Zealand, England and Bangladesh. But in the 1st test, he scored a duck in the 1st innings and 13 runs in the second. In this test match his captaincy was not upto the mark. He went horribly wrong whenever he used the DRS. In the 2nd test, Kohli will definitely come out all guns blazing as Australia’s pacer Mitchell Starc said they will need to pick up Kohli six times in order to win this test series. Kohli is the batsmen to watch out for the 2nd test to be played at Bangalore. Incidentally Bangalore happens to be Kohli’s home ground as he is the captain of RCB team in the IPL.

• Ajinkya Rahane – Rahane didn’t perform well against England and now against Australia he was disappointing in the first Test again. Except for 83 runs that he scored against Bangladesh, Rahane has not lived upto the expectations of his fans, captain and coach. If Rahane doesn’t perform as he should then he may be dropped from the series. Karun Nair who scored his triple hundred against England could replace him. Rahane needs to fire for India and for himself too because his place in the team is in danger. Rahane has everything to play for in the 2nd test at Bangalore. He will be the player to watch out for.

• Ravichandran Ashwin - India’s best spinner didn’t look threatening as Australia’s Steve O’Keefe. His performance on a turning Pune pitch wasn’t upto the mark. Neither could he bat well in both the innings. Now he has to step up in the 2nd test match and forget what has happened in the Pune test. He knows that India rely on him for quick wickets and some useful runs down the order. He too has everything to play for in the 2nd test match.

• Ravindra Jadeja – India’s most reliable all-rounder after Ashwin, he bowled well in Pune test. But he failed to add runs when team required him to do so. He failed to bat in both the innings of the 1st test match in Pune. But now he needs to correct what he did in the 1st test match. He has been picked as an all rounder in the team. So he needs to bowl and bat well. His contribution with bat and bowl will be useful for India to win this 2nd test and stay alive in the series. Ravindra Jadeja is a player to watch out for the Bangalore test match.
